School Fundraising project

economic empowerment OF the Tuareg community

Who We Are

Friends of Tabelot is a non-profit organization that partners with G.I.E Tabelot (groupement d’intérêt économique), a Nigerien Tuareg cooperative, to promote the financial independence of the Tabelot community by bringing their handcrafted jewelry to market in North America and Europe.

G.I.E Tabelot brings together 150 craftsmen working independently in Agadez and its surrounding areas.

our work

We look for ways to help promote financial independence for the Tuareg in the Tabelot community by helping them sell the jewelry they produce.

We organize and finance trips for Tuaregs to France, Spain, and Canada as well as private exhibits and craft shows granting Tuaregs an opportunity to sell their handmade products.

We also help organize international days in schools, where Tuareg jewelry can be presented and sold by students on behalf of the Tabelot community.

We aim to help promote and aid economic empowerment for the Tuareg community while showcasing their beautiful craftsmanship.

Our Mission

Our mission is to provide artisans with economic empowerment to help them become self-sufficient, breaking the poverty cycle.

The majority of African countries produce almost no consumer goods, thus creating high dependency on imports. Unfortunately, Niger is no exception, as one of the poorest countries in the world.

We hope that by selling their products, Tuareg artisans can promote community involvement and create sustainable income.
